Makueni County has attracted a Germany Company, Wirtgen Group, which specializes in road construction, equipment and mineral extraction technologies.
The company expressed its intentions to partner with the Prof Kibwana led County during a four day Road Technology Days 2018 workshop in Germany which began on Friday.
Through a statement on Saturday, the County Roads Executive member Sebastian Kyoni, who is in Germany, said the county was open to this interest which is one of the several partnerships that the County has signed since the year began.
“I have represented our case very well so we are hopeful that the interest shown by the Wirtgen Group will be escalated,” he said.
The company will help the County in the construction of low cost rural roads as well as the acquisition of equipment and technology transfer to the county roads team through its Kenya Subsidiary Panafrican Equipment.
This comes hours after a section of a bridge at Matiliku on Emali-Wote road was swept away by river water prompting Makueni legislator, Daniel Maanzo to call upon the national and county governments to release money for repair of roads damaged by floods.
