It has now emerged that two Cabinet Secretaries could be forced out of office after two parliamentary committees recommended the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to probe their actions leading into last year’s importation of contaminated sugar into the country.
But this can only happen should the National Assembly adopt the report and recommendation by joint committees on Agriculture and Livestock, and Trade, Industry and Cooperatives.
The report has recommended the sacking of Cabinet Secretaries Henry Rotich (Treasury) and Adan Mohamed (East African Community), suggesting they should be held responsible.
The report was tabled in the House Wednesday evening in a heated environment that saw some members walking out.
The recommendations of the 38-member committee co-chaired by Mandera south MP Adan Ali and Kieni MP Kanini Kega were based on the report of the Government Chemist, Mr Ali Gakweli.
